JBJ Studio is a unique 3,300 sq ft studio with residential facility situated on the famous Portobello Road in London’s exclusive Notting Hill district.
The studio and accommodation, both presented to a very high standard, occupies all four floors of an Edwardian townhouse and includes a discreet private roof terrace.
It’s an amazing place to work, it’s a great space to relax, and a fantastic environment for collaborations or writing camps.
Industry standard inventory includes an SSL mixing desk, Neumann mics, Neve and API pre-amps, Trinnov , GML, ProTools/Dante. In the main control room, world class monitoring is achieved using our Quested Q412 system, (ex-ABBEY ROAD)
We are the continuation of the renowned studio heritage of the area, (Island, Basing St., Trident, Sarm, Abbey Road) and the creative vibe of all the pivotal bands and artists West London is famous for.
Since opening in 2020 we have attracted A-list acts (Stormzy, Skrillex, Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, Sabrina Carpenter ) who have universally loved the space, the central London location, the sound and, ‘the slide!’

Recording high quality audio is our passion and we have not cut corners in achieving the highest possible sonics for your sound. From our factory new SSL console through to our recently acquired Quested Q 412 monitors (from Abbey Road studio 3) coupled with Atc SCM 25a's we have considered every element of our recording chain. It simply doesn’t come any better.
The room offers huge windows which outlook onto the mews and was designed by senior acoustician Nick Whittaker. It also features a Trinnov st2 pro correction system. We believe this is the most accurate monitoring room in London.
We boast one of the best microphone collections in London from the likes of Neumann, AKG, Brauner and Royer.
Our outboard consists of gml and pultec eq’s, fearn pre amps, thermionic culture and retro compressors and many more..
We record all of our analogue mixes to DSD or our Studer a80 tape machine for ultra HD masters.
Our spacious live rooms are amazing for drum sounds and also features a brand new Yamaha grand piano.
The live room boasts substantial natural daylight but can also be closed off to create a more vibey and intimate space. We have guitars from Martin, Gibson, Fender, stacks of high end amps and drums from Tama, mapex and pearl. We also have a full Zildgian K cymbal pack.
Artists looking to take an inspirational break or have a drink after a days recording can take full advantage of our private pool bar.
The private bar is hidden in the basement of the studio and takes chill out to a new level. It is exclusively for use of artists and features bespoke booths, a full PA system, a high end playback system and a pro pool table.
This space is particularly useful for relaxing during a recording session or inviting labels in for playback.

Our residential suites are housed within the studio and are 5 star rated. They boast wonderful views of London’s famous Portobello Road with a private roof terrace and are all en-suites. We can comfortably sleep 5/6 people.
Also included is a large kitchen / living room area and our famous slide.
For artists wishing to stay with us we can incorporate multiple setups in the living quarters for writing and demoing.
Jamie has achieved multiple national radio playlists for artists as a producer and mixer. Including BBC radio 1, 2 and 6 music. He has worked with artists such as The 1975, Eliza and the Bear, Priya Ragu, Judi Jackson, Medicine Cabinet and Two door cinema club. Jamie has recently received critical acclaim as Bloxx record producer and mixer. He can pretty much play every instrument in the world, enabling him to encourage great performances out of artists.
Alistair graduated with honours feom SAE institute, London. He started as an assistant at JBJ and has been working closely with the team ever since. As well as assisting at JBJ, Alistair has enginered at RAK, Maltbarn and Foel for bands such as Coax, Bloxx and Slowlights. His calm, methodical approach to engineering make him a favourite with clients and artists. Perhaps best of all, he makes an incredible cuppa.
Conor is a classically trained musician with a degree from Leeds college of music. With extensive knowledge in composition and arrangement he excels in song writing and structuring. Conor has worked in some of the best recording studios in London both as a producer and as a multi instrumentalist. Clients include 12 Dirty Bullets, Jamieson, Moxie Kicks, Barricades, Bess Atwell, Adu and Mata. He’s always happy to help artists find that killer guitar hook or bass line that changes something from good to great.
Dan is a BIMM graduate, who is equally at home both sides of the recording studio glass. He was a a well established touring musician who has transitioned off stage and into the studio. Since working at JBJ Dan has amassed an impressive list of clients. Including Skrillex, Liam Payne, Sigrid, Priya Ragu, Eliza and the Bear, Medicine Cabinet and Judi Jackson. As well as holding his own as a technically proficient engineer, Dan's work as a songwriter has achieved playlisting on BBC Radio 1, 2 and Radio X.
JBJ Studio, Portobello Road, Notting Hill is very easily accessible by the A40 or central line underground stations.
JBJ is easily accessible by plane, tube, bus, car or our own shuttle bus and is located on a private plot. There is parking available on request.
